ROME, February 9. /TASS/. A second mission of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) was opened in Italy’s Verona on Saturday, its head Palmarino Zoccatelli told TASS.
According to him, the opening of the mission was agreed with the DPR government and authorized by the DPR Foreign Ministry.
"We pursue a goal of releasing true information about developments in Donbass, which the official media keep silent. Our objective is to attract the public attention to the unsolved problem," Zoccatelli said.
Zoccatelli recalled that he had been visiting the embattled region in eastern Ukraine many times.
"We have regularly sent our delegations there, including with participation of Italian politicians. We hand out our aid and medicines to the population," he added.
The first DPR mission opened in Turin at the end of 2016. According to Zoccatelli, both missions are closely connected and interact.
"We can say that there is ‘an embassy’ in Turin and we have ‘a consulate’," he noted.
The first DPR European mission opened on September 1 in the Czech city of Ostrava (north Moravia). The main goal of its work was "to release true information about the still unrecognized country." Later, the DPR opened its missions in some other European cities.
