"We’ll be just fine," Trump said on Monday, when asked about the upcoming meeting with the Russian leader at the Finnish President’s residence, which the US leader visited ahead of the Russia-US summit.
The Russian-US summit begins at 13:00 Moscow time on Monday, July 16. It will take place at the Presidential Palace in downtown Helsinki. Both leaders are expected to give a joint press conference after the meeting.
Putin and Trump held their first talks on the sidelines of the Group of Twenty summit in Germany’s Hamburg in July 2017. They had another opportunity to exchange views during the APEC summit in Vietnam in November 2017, but no full-fledged meeting took place. However, Putin and Trump talked on the sidelines of the forum and adopted a joint statement on Syria.
