Russia’s Safiullin defeats world’s No.2 Alcaraz at Paris Masters

PARIS, November 1. /TASS/. Roman Safiullin of Russia defeated world’s number two Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the second round of the ATP Paris Masters tennis tournament in Paris.

The Russian player, a qualifier, won the game 6:3, 6:4. Alcaraz was seeded second.

In the third round, Safiullin will face another Russian player, Karen Khachanov, who is seeded 16th.

The Russian is playing under a neutral status at the ATP tournaments. Safiullin, 26, is currently 45th in the ATP Rankings list.

The 2023 Paris Masters tournament is an ATP Masters 1,000 event and is being played on indoor hard courts at the Accor Arena in Paris between October 30 and November 5. The tournament offers 2.779 million euros (over $2.9 million) in prize money.
