SHANGHAI, April 21. /TASS/. Interaction between Moscow and Beijing has become a core element of Eurasian development, Igor Morgulov, Russian Ambassador to China, said in an address to organizers and participants of the 2nd Eurasian Financial and Economic Forum in Shanghai.
"Russia-China relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction, entering a new era, serve as a key pillar of Eurasian development," the diplomat stated. "Under the leadership of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, our countries are successfully advancing practical cooperation in all areas, creating new drivers of economic growth," he noted.
The envoy noted the countries’ aspiration to strengthen cooperation in the interests of common security, development and prosperity. Morgulov recalled that these principles form the basis of the Greater Eurasian Partnership concept put forward by the Russian president, which envisages combining the potential of multilateral structures and their projects.
"The Eurasian Economic Union is a key center for building this partnership," Morgulov said. "Member states of the association carry out effective coordination, achieving tangible economic results," he added.
He also highlighted the special role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in strengthening mutual trust and stability in Eurasia. In addition, the ambassador stressed the importance of cross-platform cooperation, in particular aligning the development plans of the EAEU and the Belt and Road Initiative framework.
The 2nd Eurasian Financial and Economic Forum "Eurasia: Space of Trust and Sustainable Cooperation" is being held in Shanghai. The forum aims to translate the Belt and Road Initiative and the Greater Eurasian Partnership into practical agreements.
