Russian, Chinese media should pool efforts in face of Western actions — friendship society

According to the statement, "Chinese and Russian media should further raise the level of cooperation, strengthen information exchanges, and disseminate objective, reliable information in a timely manner"

BEIJING, July 31. /TASS/. The media in China and Russia need to join forces amid the "aggressive influence" on public opinion in both countries by the West, Yan Dong, the vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), said at the China-Russia Media Dialogue and briefing of the third tour of Youth of China and Russia Walking the Road of Friendship.

"In recent years, the West, and the US [among others], have been constantly increasing their aggressive influence on the public opinion of our countries, trying to undermine the development of our relations," he said. "In this context, we should join forces to focus on common interests, create a positive image of the partner country, actively advocate for an international perspective, a fair and reasonable international order, and strive to contribute to building of a new world order with the aim of steadily increasing the international influence of our media."

Yan also said that the media of the two countries need to "further deepen exchanges."

"Chinese and Russian media should further raise the level of cooperation, strengthen information exchanges, and disseminate objective, reliable information in a timely manner," he stressed.

The event was attended, among others, by a delegation of Russian journalists who arrived in Beijing on Monday within the framework of a press tour organized by the Chinese Embassy in Moscow.
