Japan eases pet travel rules for Ukrainian refugees — TV

Under current rules, owners must vaccinate their pets against rabies twice six months before traveling to Japan

TOKYO, April 18. /TASS/. The Japanese authorities have eased pet travel rules for Ukrainian refugees, the NHK broadcaster reported on Monday.

Under current rules, owners must vaccinate their pets against rabies twice six months before traveling to Japan. Otherwise, pets will have to undergo a six-month quarantine upon arrival in the country.

Given the difficult humanitarian situation, Tokyo will allow Ukrainian refugees to bring their pets with them without waiting six months. However, owners will have to provide proof of their pets’ double vaccination when entering Japan. In addition, owners will also need to report on the condition of their pets to the Japanese authorities every week.
