Czech Justice Ministry received no data from Russia over Franchetti case for now — source

According to media reports, the Russian’s detention could be linked to his active participation in the 2014 events around Crimea’s reunification with Russia

PRAGUE, September 15. /TASS/. The Czech Ministry of Justice has not received any documents so far from the Russian side regarding the case of Russian national Alexander Franchetti detained in Prague on Sunday at the request from Ukraine, a high-ranking source close to the ministry told TASS on Wednesday.

"No documents on the Franchetti case have come from Russia for now," he said.

On Tuesday, the Prague Municipal Court ruled to place in custody Russian citizen Alexander Franchetti over fears that he could leave the republic. He is currently in Prague’s Pankrac prison, awaiting the decision of the Czech authorities. The review of the issue on his extradition to Ukraine may take about a year while the case is being investigated.

According to media reports, the Russian’s detention could be linked to his active participation in the 2014 events around Crimea’s reunification with Russia.
