No military alliance provided for in Russia-DPRK partnership treaty — senior diplomat

According to Andrey Rudenko, Russia openly tells this to "all North Korea’s neighbors who sometimes and, lately, very often, express certain concerns"

MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. The comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Russia and North Korea neither threatens any third countries nor provides for the formation of a military union, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs.

"One must also note that, as opposed to similar Western agreements, the treaty does not provide for the formation of a military union nor does it threaten any third countries," the senior Russian diplomat said.

According to Rudenko, Russia openly tells this to "all North Korea’s neighbors who sometimes and, lately, very often, express certain concerns."

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during the Russian head of state’s visit to Pyongyang in June. The document provides for the development of economic ties and military and technical cooperation between the two countries, as well as mutual military aid in the event of an attack on one of the parties to the agreement.
