MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. The situation for the Ukrainian army in the Kurakhovsky direction in the Kiev-controlled part of the Donetsk People's Republic remains difficult, the General Staff of Ukraine’s armed forces said.

"The situation was tense in the Kurakhovsky direction," said the General Staff on the Telegram channel.

In late October, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov informed that the Russian Armed Forces continued to make solid progress in the Kurakhovsky direction. At the same time, Newsweek magazine analysts said October was a difficult month for the Ukrainian army.

On October 3, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of Ugledar. The city is an important logistical point in the DPR, its control will allow Russian troops to reach the next level of defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, push the Ukrainian army even further from Donetsk and reduce the number of attacks on Yelenovka, the vicinity of Volnovakha. After Ugledar was liberated, Russian troops continued advances.
