NEW YORK, November 5. /TASS/. Actors in Hollywood are facing pressure during this year’s US presidential election campaign — they are being asked to publicly support Democratic candidate Kamala Harris or risk having their future contracts canceled, US celebrity entrepreneur Elon Musk said.
"These celebrities get a call from someone powerful in Hollywood who says: 'You know, it would be great if you endorsed Kamala [Harris]. You don’t have to; it’s up to you, but if you don’t, they won’t say it directly, but if you don’t, you’re never going to get a call again — no more movies, no more concerts.' They will ask in a polite way, saying, 'It would be really nice if you endorsed Kamala. This is important.' They don’t make the threat; they don’t need to," Musk said in an interview with famous US podcast host Joe Rogan.
The US presidential election is set to take place on November 5, with voters also selecting a third of the Senate, the entire House of Representatives, and governors for 11 states and two territories. Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris are vying for the presidency. Trump, who served as the 45th president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, is seeking a return to the White House after losing to Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Harris has been serving as vice president since January 2021.
