MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. Russia’s newest Project 885M (Yasen-M) multi-purpose nuclear-powered submarine Arkhangelsk has completed trials and is being prepared to be delivered to the Navy, Sevmash Shipyard CEO Mikhail Budnichenko said in an interview with TASS on the day of the facility’s 85th anniversary.
"Based on the schedules agreed with the Russian Defense Ministry, the Arkhangelsk and Knyaz Pozharsky nuclear-powered submarines completed trials during the summer navigation season," he said. "The Arkhangelsk submarine was rolled out from the slipway in 2023 and this year, it successfully went through all trial phases. We are now preparing it to be delivered to the Navy," Budnichenko added.
Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Alexander Moiseyev said on Friday, while congratulating the Sevmash facility on its 85th anniversary, that the Navy would receive the Arkhangelsk submarine in the near future.
The Arkhangelsk submarine was rolled out from the slipway of the Sevmash Shipyard on November 29, 2023 for completing its construction afloat. The Sevmash Shipyard in Russia’s northwest is currently constructing five Project 885M submarines. The Project 885/885M nuclear-powered subs Severodvinsk, Kazan, Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk have been delivered to the Russian Navy. Project 885M nuclear-powered submarines carry Oniks and Kalibr-PL cruise missiles as their basic strike weapons.
