No cases of Delta Plus variant found in Russia for now — deputy prime minister

MOSCOW, June 23./TASS/. No cases of the Delta Plus variant have been reported in Russia for now, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova told a government session chaired by President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.

"Indian scientists have reported on several mutations of the Delta variant, one of which is called Delta Plus. Isolated cases of it were recorded in the republic," Golikova said. "We don’t have it so far," she added.

The deputy prime minister specified that this mutation was more resistant to the antibodies received after vaccination or the coronavirus infection.

According to the national anti-coronavirus crisis center, a total of 5,368,513 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Russia so far, with 4,902,110 patients having recovered from the disease. Russia’s latest data indicates 130,895 fatalities nationwide. The Russian government set up an Internet hotline to keep the public updated on the coronavirus situation.
