MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the creation of the Interior Ministry’s Service on Citizenship and the Registration of Foreign Nationals.
Another decree signed by the head of state establishes the position of head of the Service on Citizenship and the Registration of Foreign Nationals, which will hold the rank of first deputy minister. Andrey Kikot, who has been serving as deputy prosecutor general since 2017, has been appointed to this role.
"Andrey Kikot is hereby relieved from his current position and appointed as Russia’s deputy interior minister and head of the Service on Citizenship and the Registration of Foreign Nationals," the decree states.
The Russian Interior Ministry’s new service has been created based on the Main Directorate on Migration Affairs "to enhance public administration in the migration sector."
Earlier, the Russian president emphasized the need to ensure that the migration situation remains manageable for the country’s citizens. The Russian Security Council’s special interagency commission, led by the council's Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, is working on developing measures to combat illegal migration.
