Russian official accuses Ukraine of waging campaign to misinform, radicalize Russians

According to Alexander Bastrykin, the Investigative Committee is carrying out substantive work against this subversive activity

MOSCOW, February 5. /TASS/. Ukrainian special services have teamed up with the collective West to start a campaign to radicalize and misinform Russians, Russian Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin said.

"A sweeping propaganda campaign on disinformation and radicalization of the population, which has been initiated by Ukraine's special services with the help of the collective West, also has a significant impact on the dissemination of terrorism and neo-Nazism ideas in the conditions of the special military operation," he said at a meeting of the agency’s officials.

According to Bastrykin, the Investigative Committee is carrying out substantive work against this subversive activity. Since the introduction of criminal liability for public dissemination of deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces and discrediting their use, 615 criminal cases have been opened, and 365 defendants have already been brought to trial.

"In these conditions, countering the radicalization of young people, who are being influenced more and more intensively in an attempt to involve them in illegal public activity, is of particular importance now," Bastrykin said.

According to the official, the current situation requires a comprehensive approach in solving the problems of preventing destructive manifestations in among young people.

Bastrykin said it is necessary to create a unified government system of continuous social support for minors exhibiting deviant behavior, including supervision of delinquent juveniles and psychological tests of students in order to identify risk groups in a timely manner.
