Terror attack on Russia's chemical defense chief endangered ‘the lives of many’ — Putin

The Russian leader highlighted that the Kiev regime had repeatedly carried out terrorist attacks against numerous Russian civilians

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that the terrorist attack that killed the Chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, was executed in a way that "put the lives of many people at risk."

"You referred to the ‘assassination’ of General Kirillov. I thank you for that, because you indirectly admitted that this was indeed a terrorist act. Why? Because this murder was carried out in a manner that endangered many lives," the Russian leader said at the combined Direct Line Q&A session and year-end press conference, in response to a question from an American journalist.

Moreover, Putin highlighted that the Kiev regime had repeatedly carried out terrorist attacks against numerous Russian civilians. "In the Kursk Region right now, where they are executing civilians, and in other parts of Russia, they have been targeting journalists, your colleagues, and committing acts of terrorism against reporters. We have never heard, and I don’t mean you personally, but we have never heard any denunciation of these terrorist actions from the Western media. At the very least, I appreciate that you’ve brought this up," the Russian president emphasized.

According to investigators, on the morning of December 17, an explosive device concealed on a scooter near a residential building on Ryazansky Avenue in southeastern Moscow was detonated. Kirillov and his assistant died in the explosion. The Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on charges of murder, terrorism, and illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Public Relations Center reported that the attack’s perpetrator was detained: an Uzbek citizen recruited by Ukrainian intelligence, who was promised a reward of $100,000 and relocation to an EU country.
