MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. Law enforcement agencies are looking into the tragedy that occurred at a school in Bryansk and trying to figure out how something like this could happen, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"Of course, it is up to law enforcement agencies to deal with this tragedy, which they are already doing. First we need to determine why the measures that were in place failed," Peskov said of the shooting tragedy in which at least one person was killed and several were injured.
"Let's not forget that a lot of measures were taken. They all had been developed by experts. Therefore, before drawing any conclusions, it is necessary to take a closer look. Experts should evaluate the reasons behind what happened, and most importantly - why the measures already in place failed us here," Peskov said.
On Thursday morning, an eighth-grader brought a weapon to her school in Bryansk and opened fire. As a result, five people were injured, one of whom has died. The shooter committed suicide, turning the gun on herself, police said.
A conflict between the shooter and her classmates is considered to be the most likely cause of the shooting, law enforcement agencies told TASS. A criminal investigation has been launched.
