Russia currently not planning another mobilization wave — senior lawmaker

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. A senior lawmaker announced on Tuesday the new military summonses rules will be implemented in Russia, as he said the country was not currently planning another mobilization wave.

The new rules will affect both conscripts and all reservists, Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov told TASS.

He emphasized that a new call-up was not being prepared.

On Monday, Kartapolov said that the lower house of Russia’s parliament would discuss an amendment regarding the issuing of electronic military summonses at a plenary session on April 11. Under the amendment, men dodging conscription will be prohibited from leaving Russia. Later on, a ban on driving cars, buying and selling real estate or taking loans may be introduced.
