US asks everyone to follow rules, while Russia asks to follow international law — Kremlin

"These are different things, since the law is universal in nature, while the rules are established by someone," he said

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. The contrast between Russia’s and the US’ approaches to global affairs is that Moscow is directed by international law, whereas Washington is guided by rules that benefit it, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with Rossiya 1 TV channel.

"The US wants everyone to follow the rules, but we want everyone to follow the law, international law. These are different things, since the law is universal in nature, while the rules are established by someone. But the United States feel that everyone should follow their lead and follow the rules that they have established. That’s the difference," he said.

Peskov added that the United States and the United Kingdom have a monopoly on the world media and any challenges result in a frenzy. "The Anglo-Saxons unfortunately continue to have the global monopoly on the media. That is, the United States and the United Kingdom, because the most powerful world media are British and American," he said.
