MOSCOW, March 9. /TASS/. Kiev Mayor Vitaly Klichko reported an emergency power outage in the Ukrainian capital, with some 15% of consumers left without electricity.
"The energy operator introduced emergency power cuts in the capital. At present, around 15% of consumers are left without electricity," Klichko wrote on his Telegram channel
The power outage in Kiev was also reported by the regional branch of Ukraine’s energy company DTEK which said the preventive measure had been taken amid the air alert.
Warnings of air attacks have been sounding in Kiev for six hours already. Earlier, Ukrainian media reported powerful explosions in Kiev with a heavy smoke being seen billowing in the skies. According to Klichko, explosions occurred in Kiev’s Goloseyevsky district. More blasts were heard in the Ukrainian capital later.
Explosions shook Krivoy Rog in Ukraine’s Dnepropetrovsk Region and the Ivano-Frankovsk Region in the country’s west on Thursday morning, the Zerkalo Nedeli weekly reported. There were repeated explosions in the neighboring Ternopol Region, too.
A power facility was damaged in the Odessa Region, Governor Maxim Marchenko reported on Telegram.
