Senior diplomat unaware if Russia, US will resume dialogue on nuclear weapons

"However, as for military planning and from the standpoint of Russia needing to ensure its security, it’s impossible to ignore the British and French capabilities, so they will now be considered together with the US’ potential as a single force targeted against Russia," Sergey Ryabkov said

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. It’s unclear whether Moscow and Washington will resume dialogue on nuclear arms control, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters on Wednesday.

"We will certainly keep a close eye on what policy London and Paris adopt and what decisions they make as they can no longer be seen as factors not related to Russian-US dialogue on nuclear arms control. We don’t maintain dialogue at this point and it’s unclear if it will be resumed," he noted.

"However, as for military planning and from the standpoint of Russia needing to ensure its security, it’s impossible to ignore the British and French capabilities, so they will now be considered together with the US’ potential as a single force targeted against Russia," Ryabkov added.
