LUGANSK, February 13. /TASS/. Ukraine is relocating reinforcements, both manpower and materiel, to the area of Kupyansk in an attempt to stop the Russian army’s offensive, Lieutenant-Colonel Andrey Marochko, of the people's militia of the Lugansk People's Republic, has said.
"The enemy continues to move manpower and materiel to the area of Kupyansk. In the areas of Peschanoye, Novosyolovskoye and Berestovoye, the redeployment of Ukrainian reinforcements was exposed. The purpose is to contain the onslaught of our units," he said.
Marochko noted that the Ukrainian command was sending both untrained mobilized soldiers and "regular troops armed with Western equipment and weapons to the area of Kupyansk."
"The arrival of new US-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar stations was also noted," he said.
On Sunday, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that aviation, artillery and assault groups of the Western group had inflicted a defeat on the Ukrainian army near Kupyansk. Up to 80 Ukrainian soldiers were eliminated in one day.
