No plans for new Putin-Biden phone talks yet, says Kremlin spokesman

Nevertheless, such dialogue could be a good opportunity to explain the essence of the special military operation in Ukraine, Dmitry Peskov noted

MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. There are no plans for a new phone talks between Presidents Vladimir Putin of Russia and Joe Biden of the US on the situation around Ukraine so far, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.

"There are no plans for such conversation now," the Kremlin spokesman told reporters.

"At present, our interlocutors can be hardly named partners <…>," Peskov stated. Nevertheless, the Kremlin spokesman noted that such dialogue could be a good opportunity to bring our position to the interlocutors and explain the essence of the special military operation in Ukraine.

On February 12, the Russian and US leaders held phone talks. Earlier, they spoke by phone at the end of 2021. On December 7, Putin and Biden also held talks via video linkup, while the first face-to-face meeting between the presidents took place in Geneva in June 2021.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories. After that, the US, the EU, the UK, and a number of other states announced that they would impose sanctions against Russian legal entities and individuals.
