Russian, Vietnamese presidents discuss economic, energy cooperation, says Kremlin

The sides also focused on issues of cooperation between Russia and Vietnam through the Russia-ASEAN dialogue

MOSCOW, September 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc discussed a number of promising points of cooperation in the trade, economic and energy fields in a telephone conversation on Thursday, the press service of the Kremlin said in a statement.

"The mutual intent to further expand bilateral relations of the comprehensive strategic partnership was confirmed. A number of promising points of the Russian-Vietnamese cooperation in the trade, economic and energy fields, as well as the implementation of the agreement on free trade between member-states of the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam were discussed," the statement said.

The sides also focused on issues of cooperation between Russia and Vietnam through the Russia-ASEAN dialogue, the press service added.

Following the conversation, which was initiated by the Vietnamese side, presidents agreed to continue contacts through various channels.
