Search for missing after Ukraine’s strike at drilling platforms to be continued

The day before, Ukraine’s army had delivered three strikes at Chernomorneftegaz drilling platforms, when there were 109 people there

SIMFEROPOL, June 21. /TASS/. The search operation for those missing after Ukraine’s strike at the Chernomorneftegaz drilling platforms will be continued as long as the weather is favorable and there is hope to find them alive, Crimea’s head, Sergey Aksyonov said on Tuesday.

"Regrettably, the search operation has brought about no results and seven people are still missing. As long as the weather is favorable and there is hope that these people are still alive, we will continue the search operation," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Aksyonov said on Monday that Ukraine’s army had delivered three strikes at Chernomorneftegaz drilling platforms, when there were 109 people there. Ninety-four were evacuated, three were hurt, and seven went missing. The search operation continues. According to Olga Kovitidi, a senator from Crimea, Ukraine hit a gas field located 71kilometers of Odessa.

The Chernonorneftegaz platforms are operating in the Black Sea off the coast and far from Crimea’s resorts.

Chernomorneftegaz is a state-run company specializing in the production of gas and gas condensate. It holds a license for the development of the Povorotnoye field. The company operates hydrocarbon fields on the Black Sea shelf, in the Azov Sea and on the Crimean Peninsula.
