Russian stock indices decline, yuan-to-ruble rate up as trading on Moscow Exchange opens

The MOEX index accelerated its decline and reached 2,750.03 points, the RTS index amounted to 873.05 points

MOSCOW, December 27. /TASS/. The Russian stock indices declined, the yuan was strengthening against the ruble, at the opening of trading session on the Moscow Exchange.

As of 10:00 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX index fell by 0.43% to 2,754.56 points, the RTS index also went down by 0.43% to 874.49 points.

The yuan-to-ruble exchange rate at the opening of Moscow Exchange trading rose by 7.9 kopecks compared to the closing level of the previous trades and amounted to 13.479 rubles.

By 10:15 a.m. Moscow time, the MOEX index accelerated its decline and reached 2,750.03 points (-0.6%), the RTS index amounted to 873.05 points (-0.6%).

Meanwhile, the yuan-to-ruble rate went up to 13.484 rubles (+8.45 kopecks).

The Moscow Exchange suspended trading in dollars and euros on June 13 due to US sanctions imposed against it and the National Clearing Center. To determine the dollar and euro to ruble exchange rates, the Bank of Russia uses bank reports and information from over-the-counter trading.
