MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. The plan is to start retail sales of Lada Aura in December 2024, Avtovaz President Maksim Sokolov told reporters, adding that first shipments to dealers may start in November-December.
"As far as dealership centers and sales to private customers are concerned, in the event of a large government order we are doing everything possible for the first batch to be shipped in November-December. We will probably take a decision that sales will start separately in various regions, Moscow and St. Petersburg being first, of course, and later all across the country. At the beginning of December it will be possible to see Aura in dealership centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg," he said.
It usually takes 2-3 months from the start of production to the beginning of sales of new models in the global car sector, Sokolov noted.
Serial assembly of Lada Aura, a new domestic business-class sedan, was launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin in October this year. The car will be manufactured at the Avtovaz plant in the Samara Region. The company plans to manufacture 2,900 Lada Aura business sedans in 2024 and increase production of this model to 8,000 units a year from next year.
The car based on the Vesta model was first presented last summer. The Lada Aura is equipped with a 1.8-liter engine with a capacity of 122 hp and an automatic transmission.
