Russia to continue improving management efficiency in power industry — Deputy PM

According to Alexander Novak, special attention will be paid to restoring the development of the energy potential of new regions of Russia

MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. Russia will continue to improve management efficiency in the electric power industry, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said at a government hour in the Federation Council.

Novak recalled that in 2024 it is planned to introduce operating cost standards, as well as a single center of responsibility in each region. In addition, the number of territorial grid agencies will be reduced - they will be optimized and consolidated in order to increase the reliability of power supply to the regions.

According to Novak, special attention will be paid to restoring the development of the energy potential of new regions of Russia.

"In the next two years, it is planned to restore more than 2,000 MW of generating capacity, over 400 power grid facilities, more than 1,300 km of main and distribution gas pipelines," he said.

These large-scale programs and projects are aimed at developing the domestic market and its capacity.

"I’m not talking just about covering current needs, but first of all, about forming a powerful energy reserve for the implementation of national development goals," he concluded.
