SANYA /China/, August 24. /TASS/. The resort city of Sanya (Hainan Province, South China) has launched direct international flights to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, the Sanya Daily newspaper reported.
According to the paper, flights are carried out by Vietravel Airlines to both destinations twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. The flight time between the two cities is 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The new route's first flight with 118 passengers on board landed at Phoenix International Airport in Sanya on the night of August 21.
The report emphasizes that the launch of the flight will promote exchanges between the two cities in tourism, business and trade, culture and other areas. The Phoenix Airport is expected to increase the number of international flights in the future.
Sanya is a leading Chinese resort with more than 1 million people. In 2022, its gross product amounted to 84.71 billion yuan (about $12.2 billion). Its average annual temperature reaches 25.4 degrees Celsius and its coastline is over 200 kilometers long. There are 19 bays in the surrounding waters and about 40 islands suitable for tourism, all of which allow the local government to successfully develop yacht and beach tourism.
