Russia to continue cooperation with ASEAN, focus on trade turnover diversification

Russian exports to ASEAN countries surged by almost 25% during ten months of 2022

MOSCOW, January 24. /TASS/. Russia will continue its proactive interaction with member-states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) with a focus on trade turnover diversification and creation of new transport and logistical routes, the Ministry of Economic Development told TASS.

"Proactive work with the region will continue. There is special focus on the diversification of trade turnover, creation of new transport and logistical routes, establishment of sustainable mechanisms of financial settlements, and on intensification of relations among representatives of business communities and raising awareness of the tourism potential of Russia and ASEAN countries to boost traveler flows between countries," the Ministry informed.

The ASEAN member-states are Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Cambodia.

The trade turnover between Russia and ASEAN gained more than 27% in annual terms and reached $20 bln as of 2021 year-end, the Ministry said. Russian exports to ASEAN countries surged by almost 25% during ten months of 2022.
