MOSCOW, October 20. /TASS/. Entities controlled by the US are illegally exporting 80% of daily production of hydrocarbons every day, head of the Russian Interdepartmental Coordination Center on the return of refugees to Syria Colonel Oleg Gorshenin said on Thursday.
Gorshenin cited data from the Syrian Ministry of Oil and Natural Resources. According to them, entities controlled by the US are illegally exporting up to 66,000 barrels of oil per day, which make up 80% of hydrocarbons produced in the country. "The scale of theft has reached a high point. Humanitarian problems persist in the country as a result, including a shortage of energy, food, water and essential goods," he noted.
Russia and Syria "strongly condemn the illegal presence of military contingents of foreign states on the territory of the sovereign Syrian state and the plundering of natural resources belonging to the Syrian people by those occupying states," Gorshenin said. "We are in favor of strict measures by the global community to prevent <...> smuggling," he added.
