Expert supports introduction of digital security ombudsman’s post in Russia

"Such an official can voice a position which will be taken into account, in particular, when introducing penalties for leaks of personal data," Oleg Moskvitin noted

MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. The introduction of the post of digital security ombudsman in Russia would be a proper measure, provided that such an official properly dealt with personal data security, Acting Director of the Institute of Competitive Policy and Market Regulation Oleg Moskvitin said at a press conference in TASS.

"This is an absolutely good measure. If the ombudsman properly protects personal data, why not?" the expert said. "We support the proactive engagement of the society, quasi-public and public institutions like the ombudsman being actively involved in this and protecting the interests [of citizens]," Moskvitin noted.

"Such an official can voice a position which will be taken into account, in particular, when introducing penalties for leaks of personal data," he added.
