Russia’s NWF down $16.5 bln in September 2022 — Finance Ministry

It is noted that 138.433 bln rubles ($2.29 bln) more are deposited with VTB and Gazprombank for funding of self-sustained infrastructural projects

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. The National Wealth Fund (NWF) lost more than one trillion rubles ($16.5 bln) in September 2022 and amounted to 10.8 trillion rubles ($179.1 bln) as of October 1, the Russian Finance Ministry said on Thursday.

As of September 1, 2022, NWF amounted to 11.86 trillion rubles ($196.1 bln), the Ministry reported.

The liquid portion of NWF as of October 1 totaled 7.5 trillion rubles, which is equivalent to $131 bln or 5.6% of GDP.

49.1 bln euro, 5.3 bln pounds sterling, 768.2 bln yen, 309.7 bln yuan, 554.9 tonnes of gold in a depersonalized form and 264.3 mln rubles ($4.4 mln) are deposited with the Bank of Russia. 528.4 bln rubles ($8.7 bln) are deposited with VEB.RF development corporation.

$3 bln are invested into debentures of foreign states, 314.3 bln rubles ($5.2 bln) and $2.221 bln are invested in securities of Russian issuers related to implementation of self-sustained infrastructural projects, and 328.9 bln rubles ($5.43 bln) - in preferred shares of credit organizations.

138.433 bln rubles ($2.29 bln) more are deposited with VTB and Gazprombank for funding of self-sustained infrastructural projects. 1.2 trillion rubles ($19.8 bln) are invested in ordinary shares of Sberbank and 53.4 bln rubles ($882.2 mln) in ordinary shares of Aeroflot.
