HAIKOU /China/, July 23. /TASS/. The total revenue of express delivery services industry in Hainan, China's southern province, reached 2.37 billion yuan, an increase of 5.6% compared to the same period in 2021, the Hainan International Communication Network (HICN) reported.
The first six months saw steady growth in both revenue and volume of shipments, which were 12.6 and 3.7 percentage points higher than the national average, respectively. In May alone, express delivery services fulfilled 18 million orders, a historic high for the province in a single month.
The local government is also supporting the development of the mail and express delivery industry by adopting various rules and regulations regarding finance and shipping, among other things, to address the challenges at hand.
"These policies are in the best interest of our business. For example, subsidies for degradable packaging bags and new equipment reduce the pressure on us," the resource quotes Liang Qili, a manager from SF Express, as saying. Others in the industry also say investment in smart equipment is needed to make delivery services more efficient.
