PYONGYANG, January 4. /TASS/. The North Korean foreign ministry has condemned the US military operation in Venezuela that removed leader Nicolas Maduro, in a commentary published by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

"The North Korean foreign ministry views the US hegemonic acts carried out in Venezuela as a grave violation of sovereignty, the UN Charter, and international law," the ministry’s representative stated. "The current event is another example that allows us to once again confirm the bandit and barbaric nature of the United States," he added.

The ministry called on all countries to recognize the serious consequences of US military intervention for regional stability and international relations and to "raise their voices in proper protest and condemnation of the systematic violations of sovereignty by the United States."

Earlier, India’s foreign ministry expressed deep concern about the events in Venezuela, supporting the well-being of the Venezuelan people and calling on the two parties to resolve issues through dialogue.

In turn, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi pledged to make efforts toward restoring democracy and stabilizing the situation in Venezuela following the US military operation in that country and the capture of President Nicolas Maduro, without providing any assessment of Washington's military operation.
