HARARE, April 2. /TASS/. Russian LNG carrier Arctic Metagaz was attacked by a Ukrainian unmanned surface vehicle from a base in West Libya controlled by the government in Tripoli headed by Abdul Hamid al-Dbeibeh, RFI radio station reports, citing its investigation data.
According to radio station sources, the gas tanker was attacked by a Ukrainian Magura V5 sea drone. It was launched from the base in Mellitah, where the Ukrainian troops are stationed.
The LNG carrier was attacked on March 3 by Ukrainian unmanned surface vehicles in the immediate vicinity of Maltese territorial waters. The fire outbreak and the gas explosion occurred on board. The ship was disabled and left without power supply.
Predicting the movement direction of drifting LNG carrier Arctic Metagaz is now impossible, the Libyan committee for emergency situations told TASS.
Libyan authorities used all the resources available to manage the situation with the gas tanker and avert the threat, the committee stressed. The country urges all the Mediterranean nations to take measures in respect of the drifting ship.
