Serbia technically cannot receive gas from LNG terminal in Greece — Srbijagas CEO

The connector between Greece and Bulgaria has not yet been ended, Dusan Bajatovic specified

BELGRADE, May 5. /TASS/. It has been technically impossible so far to use the LNG terminal in Greece, CEO of the Serbian gas company Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic said in the interview with Tanjug news agency.

"This LNG terminal in Alexandroupolis, let me say so, has been prepared in Greece long since. It is good that construction has started. The connector between Greece and Bulgaria has not yet been ended so we still cannot [use it] in technical terms," the top manager said.

"We have at the moment the so-called TurkStream, which is actually the Balkan Stream in Serbia, from which we receive gas directly from Russia. We also have a free line from Hungary, where we have access to the European gas market and we can buy gas there just as other countries. However, there is a tough call - and we will now the answer only in a month or two - how much gas will be there indeed and how much you will be able to buy on the European market. The risk is high in this regard," Bajatovic added.
