CHISINAU, May 1. /TASS/. Gas deliveries to Moldova are proceeding as usual, despite the country delaying its obligation to agree on debt repayment to Gazprom before May 1, Chairman of the board of Moldovagaz Vadim Cheban said on his Telegram channel.
"Natural gas deliveries to the Republic of Moldova are proceeding as usual, in accordance with the terms of the contract with Gazprom," he wrote.
The Moldovan government said earlier that Gazprom may stop deliveries, since the country is not yet ready to return the debt for the consumed fuel and asked for a delay. Chisinau insists on agreeing on a debt repayment schedule only after the debt on the balance sheet of Moldovagaz is audited. The parties allowed that the agreement would be signed before May 1, but the Moldovan authorities did not attract foreign auditor in time.
Earlier, it was reported that the debt of Moldovagaz reached $433 mln, and taking into account the delay in payments, its total amount reached $709 mln.
