Yamal to present deer hide tanning project at trade show in China

The China International Import Expo will involve more than 1,000 companies from 120 countries across the world

TASS, August 6. The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region will present at the China International Import Expo a project on deer hide tanning. The show is scheduled for November 5-10 in Shanghai, the region’s Foreign Economic Relations Department told TASS on Monday.

"This event will be organized during the Year of Russian-Chinese Inter-Regional Cooperation, and Yamal’s representatives will be a part of the Russian delegation. <…> The Russian exposition will present the region’s investment project on reindeer hide tanning," the department said.

The region’s investment potential will be presented in China by companies, working in agriculture and tourism.

"Our folk group, the Northern Lights, and other singers will participate in the opening ceremony and in the big concert program along with foreign artists," the department told TASS. "Besides, we are bringing the White Reindeer Moss film and an exhibition of our local photographer."

The event will feature more than 1,000 companies from 120 countries across the world. The show will present national expositions and seven sector pavilions.

Yamal has the biggest in the world domesticated reindeer livestock - more than 760,000 animals. Yamal is Russia’s only region, which is allowed to export reindeer meat to the EU countries.
