Plans for building facilities for Russian army in 2023 fully implemented — Shoigu

The defense minister also noted that in Severomorsk the construction had been completed of a power center to supply the facilities of the Northern Fleet

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. All 2023 targets set for the military construction complex were fulfilled and more than 2,700 buildings and structures were commissioned, with the main attention paid to infrastructure for the strategic nuclear forces, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said.

"The main attention was paid to the development of infrastructure for strategic nuclear forces. This year, 592 high-tech facilities have been built to accommodate the Sarmat, Avangard and Yars missile systems. The infrastructure for strategic systems armed with nuclear cruise missiles of unlimited range Burevestnik and carriers of unmanned underwater vehicles Poseidon is being created at an accelerated pace," he said at an enlarged meeting of the Defense Ministry’s board.

Shoigu also noted that in Severomorsk the construction had been completed of a power center to supply the facilities of the Northern Fleet. A full-fledged naval base had been built at the main base of the Caspian Flotilla. The overhaul and upgrade of airfield facilities at Baltimor, Lipetsk and Chkalovsky was also completed for the accommodation of all types of modern aircraft.

More than a thousand apartment buildings and other facilities in military garrisons were built in 2023.

Shoigu also noted that the construction of nine new modern military hospitals would be completed in Russia's regions in the next three months. He also added that this year a training and laboratory building of the Pskov State University’s medical department was commissioned. About 850 military medics have begun to undergo training there.
