MOSCOW, May 7. /TASS/. A total of 18,583 people, including 1,841 children, have been evacuated from dangerous areas in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR), and Ukraine, in the past 24 hours, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, the chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said on Saturday.
"Despite the obstacles and problems created by Kiev, 18,583 people, including 1,841 children, have been evacuated to the Russian Federation from dangerous areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and Ukraine in the past 24 hours, without any participation of the Ukrainian authorities," said Mizintsev, who heads the Russian Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine.
"Since the beginning of the special military operation, 1,165,957 people have already been evacuated, including 205,640 children," he added.
According to the colonel-general, 150,971 vehicles crossed into Russia since the start of the military operation.
More than 9,500 temporary accommodation centers continue to operate in Russia. They are equipped with required facilities, including areas for rest and hot meals.
