PARIS, March 24. /TASS/. An Airbus A320 en route from Barcelona to Dusseldorf has crashed in the French Alps, Europe 1 TV channel reported on Tuesday.
According to iTele digital channel, the plane operated by Germanwings budget airline carried 142 passengers, as well as six crew members.
The AFP news agency reported that the French government has confirmed the crash.
The plane's debris were found near the town of Barcelonnette in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, the agency said.
The European Commission has expressed condolences to the relatives of the victims of the tragedy.
