NEW YORK, February 6. /TASS/. US commentator Jackson Hinkle bashed the United States for resuming weapons supplies to Ukraine as the world is balancing on the verge of another global war.
"And today you just resumed weapons shipments to Ukraine. <…> Who cares about millions of dollars per year when we are on the verge of WW3?" Hinkle asked rhetorically on X. In his post, he commented on a publication released by the US Department of State that "US government vessels can now transit the Panama Canal without charge fees, saving the US government millions of dollars a year."
Earlier, Politico reported that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had suspended spending on almost all foreign aid programs for 90 days. The new freeze measures will apply to military aid to Ukraine, Jordan, and Taiwan, while military assistance to Israel and Egypt will continue, sources told the newspaper then.
On February 3, Reuters confirmed that US shipments of weapons to Ukraine were briefly paused before resuming last weekend. Some factions inside the Trump administration are at odds over the extent to which Washington should continue to send weapons from US stocks to Kiev, Reuters said.
On February 4, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Trump administration had issued a blanket waiver for US foreign aid, resuming the bulk of what he called "life-saving programs.".
