CAIRO, April 3. /TASS/. The Palestinian movement Hamas thinks that the United States is in fact taking part in Israel’s aggression in the Gaza Strip, Ismail Haniyeh, head of Hamas’ political bureau, said.
"[Israel’s] aggression against the Palestinian people could not have continued and would not have reached such a degree of brutality if it had not been covered up by Americans and if [the US] had not de facto taken part in the crimes of [Israel’s] occupation," said Haniyeh, as quoted on Hamas’s Telegram channel.
The leader of the radical movement added that he was convinced that the aggression would not have continued, "if America had not been directly involved in it by sending [Israel] thousands of tons of lethal weapons, bombs, missiles and planes, and supporting it with tens of billions of dollars, and if [the US] had not taken a biased stance in the UN Security Council throughout all the days of the war."
Haniyeh mentioned that "some Western countries" were also involved in that.
The Hamas senior member confirmed that the movement "adheres to demands for a lasting ceasefire, a complete pullout of troops from the Gaza Strip and the return of displaced persons to their permanent residence locations, the deliveries of necessary humanitarian aid to the people in the enclave, the reconstruction of the Strip, the halt to the Gaza siege and the deal" to exchange the hostages held by the Hamas for Palestinian detainees.
