Over 200 people killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza in 24 hours, Palestinian authorities say

According to the Ministry, a total of 20,258 Palestinians have been killed and 53,688 have been injured since the beginning of the escalation

CAIRO, December 23. /TASS/. Over 200 people have been killed in the past 24 hours by Israeli bombings and strikes in various parts of the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported.

"In the past 24 hours, at least 201 people died in bombings of the Palestinian enclave," the Ministry said, according to Al Hadath. A total of 368 people were injured during the same time period.

According to the Ministry, a total of 20,258 Palestinians have been killed and 53,688 have been injured since the beginning of the escalation.

The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated following an incursion of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7. Hamas has cast the attack as a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel has declared a complete siege of the Gaza Strip and started a military operation there. Israel also strikes parts of Lebanon and Syria in retaliation for bombardments originating from these countries. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
