DUBAI, October 24. /TASS/. Qatari ruling emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has called for an end to the armed conflict between Israel and the radical Palestinian organization Hamas, in a speech at the country’s legislature, known as the Consultative Assembly.
"The killing of innocent people is unacceptable, no matter what nationality they are or which side makes a strike. We call on the countries of the region and the world to take a firm stand regarding this escalation, which threatens the security of the Middle East and the entire planet. We also call for a halt to this war, which has already gone beyond all possible limits," the emir said at the legislature’s opening session. "We want to ask those who are behind this war and who do not accept any alternative scenarios: 'What will happen afterward? Will there be peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians? Where will the Palestinians go after the war?’ The Palestinian people continue to exist, and with them their suffering. After this war, all we will get is grief, an increasing number of casualties and, in connection with that, a profound sense of injustice."
"The only way to guarantee stability and security for the two peoples is to establish a just and sustainable peace and to enable the Palestinian people to realize all their legitimate rights as defined by international organizations. For example, their right to establish their own state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, must be realized," the Qatari leader said.
