Trump says set no deadline for ceasefire in talk with Putin

Putin and Trump held a phone call on March 18, discussing the idea of a 30-day ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict

WASHINGTON, March 22. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump said that he did not indicate any specific deadline for reaching a ceasefire in Ukraine in his conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

"Not a deadline, but I think we'll have one (ceasefire - TASS)," Trump said while speaking to reporters at the White House.

He was asked if he had outlined any deadline on establishing a ceasefire to Putin.

Putin and Trump held a phone call on March 18, discussing the idea of a 30-day ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict, ways to prevent a further escalation of tensions and a number of international issues, the Kremlin said. According to its account of the call, the Russian leader supported the US president’s initiative for an energy and infrastructure ceasefire in Ukraine. The White House said in the readout that the two leaders also agreed to begin technical negotiations "on implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, full ceasefire and permanent peace."

Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said earlier that Russian and US experts will hold consultations in Riyadh on March 24. The Russian delegation will be led by Senator Grigory Karasin and adviser to Federal Security Service director Sergey Beseda.
