Biden was concerned Nord Stream detonation would be connected to US — Hersh

The journalist previously stated that US Navy divers, with the support of Norwegian specialists, planted explosive devices under Russian gas pipelines under the cover of the Baltops exercise in June 2022

NEW YORK, February 15. /TASS/. US President Joe Biden was concerned that the detonation of the Nord Stream pipelines will be connected the US during the preparation of the sabotage already, US reporter Seymour Hersh said in an interview for the democracynow.org website.

"In that exercise, the divers went down, did what they were trained to do. […] They did their job, but the President, Iast minute hesitated, because he was afraid blowing it up right after the exercise would put the finger on us, and then he wanted permission to do it anytime," - he said.

On February 8, US journalist Seymour Hersh, who specializes in investigative journalism, stated in his article, citing a source, that the Nord Stream pipelines were bombed using explosive devices planted by US Navy divers in June 2022 under the guise of the BALTOPS exercise, with support from Norwegian specialists. According to Hersh, the operation was authorized by US President Joe Biden personally, following nine months of discussions with White House security specialists.

White House National Security Council Spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in a commentary for TASS that Hersh’s version is "utterly false and total fiction".
