Death toll from Monday’s earthquakes in Turkey rises to 20,665, authorities say

80,088 Turkish citizens injured

ANKARA, February 11. /TASS/. The death toll in Turkey following the devastating earthquakes that occurred on February 6 has climbed to 20,665, the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority said.

As many as 80,088 Turkish citizens have been injured, the authority said in a statement.

Powerful 7.7-and 7.6-magnitude earthquakes rocked Turkey’s Kahramanmaras province, located in the country’s southeast, on Monday. The tremors, followed by hundreds of aftershocks, were felt in 10 provinces as well as in neighboring countries, of which Syria was hardest hit.
