Clinical trials of COVID vaccine for children show its safety, says developer

The Gamaleya Federal Research Center earlier filed documents with the Russian Health Ministry to register a vaccine against coronavirus which would be used to inoculate children aged 6-11

MOSCOW, February 1. /TASS/. Clinical trials of a COVID vaccine designed for children aged 6-11 have shown its complete safety, Head of the Gamaleya Federal Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Alexander Ginzburg told TASS on Wednesday.

"The vaccine is absolutely safe, its effectiveness is the same as in all previous vaccines," he said. Ginzburg emphasized that the vaccine showed good results in clinical trials.

The Gamaleya Federal Research Center earlier filed documents with the Russian Health Ministry to register a vaccine against coronavirus which would be used to inoculate children aged 6-11. According to the state register of medicinal substances, the vaccine consists of two doses. Its trade name is Gam-COVID-Vac-D and it is a combined vaccine for the prevention of coronavirus infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
