US blacklists seven entities from Iran for contributing to Russian armed forces — document

The list included, in particular, several enterprises of the aviation industry, as well as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Air Force

WASHINGTON, January 31. /TASS/. US Department of Commerce has blacklisted seven organizations from Iran for " for contributing to Russia’s military and defense industrial base." The corresponding notification was received on Tuesday in the electronic database of the Federal Register - a collection of official documents of the US government.

The list included, in particular, several enterprises of the aviation industry, as well as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Air Force.

"These seven entities, listed under the destination of Iran, have been determined by the U.S. Government to be acting contrary to the national security or foreign policy interests of the United States for contributing to Russia’s military and defense industrial base," the document says.

According to the US Department of Commerce, the entities were listed for "contributing to Russia’s military and defense industrial base through the production of Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), which are being transferred to Russia for use in Ukraine."

Getting into the black list means the introduction of export control measures against these entities, in particular the policy of export license denial for all goods subject to export control, with the exception of food and medicine, the document explains.

Moscow and Tehran have repeatedly denied reports on supplies of Iranian drones to Russia for their use in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called such reports "bogus stories" and emphasized that the Russian army uses drones of domestic production. In early November 2022, the head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the Islamic Republic supplied drones to Russia, but in small quantities and a few months before the start of the military operation in Ukraine.
